SOUTH SHIELDS FREE CHURCHES
A united memorial service for her late Majesty, Queen Victoria, was held by the members of the Free Churches of South Shields, on Saturday afternoon, in the Wesleyan Methodist Church Chapter Row. The church was crowded out with worshippers, each wearing some token of mourning for the death of their Queen. The pulpit and the communion table were heavily draped in black cloth. This most effecting service began with the Dead March in "Saul" played on the organ, which was followed by the opening sentences of the funeral service, read by the Rev. C. Burbridge, Wealeyan minister.
