SCORES A GREAT BIG HIT.
Edison Vitascope Exhibition to a Private Little Rock Audience Last Night.
Edison's vitascope, an exhibition of which will be given at the Capital theater Thursday night, is the latest wonder of the New Jersey wizard. From plates no larger than a postage stamp this marvelous machine casts life sized figures upon a screen on the stage and these figures go through the motions of actual life. A "Gazette" reporter was in a party of newspaper men who witnessed a private exhibition last night. A number of views were presented so clearly and the action of the figures was so lifelike that one could readily imagine he was looking at human figures.
This was particularly true of the Cissy Fitzgerald representation. The famous dansueuse [sic] could not have pleased the spectators more if she had been there in person, and given her celebrated wink, which of course accompanied the representation. Representations of "Shooting the Schute at Coney Island," the ocean surf, and interrupted lovers were also given and each scored a great hit.
The vitascope is distinctively an Edisonian triumph, and it is destined to achieve a triumph in this city, just as it has in the larger cities where it has been exhibited.
The following in a partial list of some of the views which will be presented in this city, representing moving figures and with all the appurtenances of real life:
Scene from the coronation of the czar of Russia taken at Moscow. The czar is plainly recognizable to anyone familiar with his portrait.
Russian street. scenes, taken at Moscow. Shows the curious Russian vehicles, etc.
Russian sailors. Scene on board a man of war.
The Gondolas. A scene on the Grand Canal in Venice, showing St. Mark's Square.
Market scene. Showing market place in Vienna, Austria.
Boats on the Seine, at Paris. Showing steamers, pleasure barges, etc. passing; bridge at background with carriages passing over.
Place de la Concorde. A scene on one the famous Parisian boulevards. Showing carriages, omnibuses, pedrestrians, etc.
Rue Du Havre. A street scene in the business section of Paris.
The Goat Wagon. A scene for children. Taken in the gardens of the famous palace of the Tuilleries, Paris.
Train scene. Taken at one of the Paris railway stations.
The fire engine. Showing engine leaving house for a fire, Paris.

LIVING PICTURES.
The Vitascope Exhibition at the Capital Theater Tonight.
A large audience will doubtless attend the Vitascope exhibition at the Capital theater tonight, as the advance sale is quite large. Below will be found descriptions of some of the scenes which will be presented:
A watermelon contest, representing two colored men eating watermelon on a wager, and the efforts of each one to eat faster than the other are very amusing.
A bathing scene at Rockaway Beach, an Eastern coast. It shows clearly the bathers in the water as the tide ebbs and flows and it is one of the most realistic scenes that is presented.
One of the most popular scenes that is being presented by the Vitascope in the East is the "Kiss" scene of May Erwin and John Rice, and it is by special request that this subject has been procured.
The swimming school. This scene shows a great many people in swimming at a natatorium in New York, and the diving ans splashing in the water is so plainly discernible that one can hardly realize that it is photography bringing to him scenes and incidents so fara away.
The beautiful Patterson Falls is probably one of the most effective sights that could be reproduced, and the representations given in this does it full justice.
