Le Vitascope (Robinson's Opera House, 14-16 décembre 1896)
William T. Rock présente son vitascope en décembre :
A WONDERFUL INVENTION.
Edison's Vitascope on Exhibition at the Opera House.
One of the most remarkable exhibitions of the age is now being given nightly at Robinson's Opera House, and every lover of art, science and invention should not fail to attend. The exhibition consists of moving and acting pictures -the latest invention of the "Wizzard" Edison.
This exhibition is something on the order of a stereopticon, all the figures being life size, and move around, walk, run, jump and dance as natural : as real people. One can hardly believe while looking upon these acting pictures that they are not real people moving around on the stage, so true to life do they appear.
It is impossible to accurately describe the vitascope. It must be seen to be appreciated; no description can do it justice. Suffice it to say, however, that this is the neatest, most marvelous and most interesting ever seen in Jackson, and the person who misses it, misses a great treat.
The following will be the program tonight:
Camel's parade; The pickaninnies' morning bath; The rescue of the burning stable; Mounted park police charge at Central Park, New York City; Blacksmith shop at Edison's laboratory, Orange, N. J.; Swimming school at the bath; The kiss, May Irwin and Johnnie Rice: Umbrella dance, by Leigh sisters; Street dance, on the sidewalks of New York: Niagara Falls, Maid of the Mist, Irish way of discussing politics; The pickaninnies, from the passing show; Prize fight between Corbett and Courtney, knock out round; The storm at Coney Island; Lone fisherman, by James Maffit; Carnival dance, the London Gaiety Girls.
