American Convicts' Escape from Prison

A thrilling subject, interesting and exciting from start to finish. Planning the escape. The doomed warder. The first convict succeeds in escaping from his cell, and hurriedly releases all the others in his division. They flee through a window. Alarm sounded by the dying warder. A hot chase then ensues, the convicts making desperate efforts to get away, rushing through fields, over rocks, and through woods, pluckily followed very closely by the warders. The ambush. Murder of another warder. Two of the convicts are now armed with weapons taken from their dead pursuers. The picnic-party. The convicts threaten with death the person disclosing their whereabouts, and afterwards they again take up their desparate race on bicycles they discover in the wood. the warders are at fault for a moment, but again take up the chase on a passing motor-car. The convict party, now reduced to three, abandon the cycles, and, doubling back over the country, reaches the home of one of their number. The siege a warm time. Both besieged and besiegers take big risks, and two of the remaining convicts are killed. The sole survivor is making a last stand when a bullet enters the window and mortally wounds his little daughter. The warders now rush the place, and drag him from the side of his dying child back to the dreary cell from which he made such bold efforts to escape.
