Le Biograph (Wonderland, 22-29 mars 1897)

En mars, le Biograph est annoncé dans la presse :

BIOGRAPH'S POPULARITY.
Phenomenal Business of the Great American Machine at Wonderland.
Popular as was the Lumiere cinematographe at Wonderland the American biograph in a single week has far out-stripped its imported rival in the favor of patrons of Proprietor Moore's place of amusement. Crowds have been in attendance at every performance, and for next week there is likely to be a special feature that will of itself more than pack Wonderland. It will be a view of the inauguration of President McKinley, and the biograph people have wired that they expect to have the scene ready for exhibition in Rochester by Monday night, the weather conditions at Washington having been perfect. Their experts on the scene report the most successful results. With the inauguration for a special feature, five other new views on the biograph and as good a variety bill as has been booked there this season Wonderland is just about due for another record breaking week.
Besides the inauguration the following ten views on the biograph will be presented next week, five of them new and several of them reversed just for the sake of the novel effect produced:
"Shooting the Chutes at Atlantic City."
"Joseph Jefferson's Toast "-" Here's to your health and your family's; and may they all live long and prosper."
" McKinley at Home."
" McKinley and Hobart Parade at Canton, O."
"Stable on Fire" -A vivid picture of the rescuing of live stock and carriages from a burning barn. This picture will be reversed.
"Thirteenth Infantry, U. S. A." -Full dress parade and manoeuvering, Governor's Island.
" The Pickaninny's Bath "-Showing a colored woman washing a negro baby in a large tub.
"The Prodigal's Return, 3 a. m. " -We won't go home till morning." Note the movements of the actor in this scene for comparison with the same, movements reversed in the view which follows.
" The Prodigal's Return, 3 a. m., Reversed " - This scene introduces some of the many wonders of modern photography, whereby motion may be studied in the reverse. Interesting and ludicrous effects will be observed, such as the flying up into the air of the coat and other garments, and the obliging silk hat, which rolls around until it is in a position to resume its position on the man's head.
"Empire State Express."- In the distance the locomotive can be seen taking water at full speed, the spray thrown on both sides of the engine being distinctly visible.
