Les origines (1851-1906)

De formation dessinateur architecte, Henri Hérault effectue son service militaire et est incorporé au 4^e Régiment d'Infanterie à compter du 16 novembre 1904. Il passe dans la disponibilité le 12 juillet 1907.

Pathé (1907-1914)

En 1907, il se rend, pour le compte de la société Pathé, en Russie avec l'espagnol Serrano, où il tourne un film sur le Tsar bénissant les eaux de la Neva. De retour, il prend un panorama depuis un ballon.

Henri Hérault embarque, à bord du Mongolia, le 13 août 1908, de Londres, pour Melbourne et Sydney.

Il embarque le 18 septembre 1908 pour les îles Salomons avec I. Sutto à bord du Makambo et il se rend également à Papouasie.

FRENCH EXPERT IN HOBART.
In pursuance of the arrangement recently entered into by the Commonwealth Government with Pathe Freres to illustrate Australia by means of the cinematograph, one of the firm's most capable experts, Monsieur Henri Herault, is now paying a visit to Hobart. Visitors to cinematograph exhibitions require no introduction to Pathe Freres, their pictures figuring in almost every entertainment of this description throughout the world; in fact, their trade-mark, "a rooster," is familiar to everyone interested in living pictures.
Monsieur Herault has, in the pursuit of his profession visited many countries. Last year he made a special trip to Russia, to take a film of the Czar blessing the waters of the Neva. The magnificent picture of the French motor-car race, which has been shown all over Australia, was his handiwork. One of his most interesting experience last year was to take a moving panorama of Paris from a balloon. Since then, in conjunction with two other representatives of his firm, he paid an extended visit to the Solomons and Papua, where very interesting pictures were taken of native live and customs. These will be shown all over the world very shortly.
In Tasmania, Monsieur Herault's operations will be somewhat limited, his intention being to devote himself principally to illustrating the fruit industry. From here he returns to Melbourne, en route for New South Wales and Queensland.
After completing the Commonwealth pictures the South Seas are to be visited. Monsieur Leopold Sutto, the leader of the expedition, left last week for Paris for the purpose of completing arrangements to open for his firm a factory in Australia similar in all respects to the Paris factories, where 3,500 people are employed. Of course, the Australian establishment will be on a smaller scale, but it will be fitted up precisely the same as the Paris factory.

Le 3 décembre 1910, Henri Herault (ou son épouse) quitte la Grande-Bretagne pour l'Australie à bord du "Mongolia".

Le 28 août 1911, il quitte la Grande-Bretagne pour l'Australie à bord du "Mongolia".

M. Herault has, so to say, grown up with the picture industry. At first attached to the Paris factories he was later appointed to the outside staff. In this connection he travelled all over Europe in Russia one week cinematographing the Czar blessing the waters of Neva, in Switzerland the next recording the doings of the world's greatest aviators; then in Spain attending a Royal function, and so on.

Au début de la Grande Guerre, Henri Hérault est rappelé à l'activité, le 3 août 1914 et il rejoint son corps le 11 août et il est nommé caporal le 1^er novembre 1914. Blessé à Vauquois, il décède le 28 février 1915 :

Nous avons le très vif regret d'apprendre la mort du sergent d'infanterie Henri Hérault, tué à Vauquois le 1er Mars.
M. H. Hérault était directeur de la maison Pathé Frères en Australie et comptait un très grand nombre d'amis dans ce pays. Il était gendre de M. et Mme Noé Puech.
Nous adressons à sa veuve nos respectueuses condoléances et à la famille l'expression de notre profonde sympathie à l'occasion du deuil qui les frappe.
