Capsize of Lifeboat

Taken at Pacifie Coast Life Saving Service, Fort Point Station, Presidio, San Francisco, Cal. , Capt. Joseph Hodgson commanding, and shows the crew capsizing a life boat. These boats are self-righting and self-bailing, and this act is rehearsed daily, so that they are prepared for any such accident. The scene opens with the boat on its beam ends, the crew standing on the lower gunwale holding fast to the upper one. They succeed in turning the boat completely over, remaining beneath it. The boat subsequently rights itself, carrying the sailors with it. The subject is very novel, and is faithfully reproduced.
