Dogs Playing in the Surf

Taken at the Coronado, San Diego, Cal. Shows a variety of dogs, including Water Spaniels, Fox Terrier, Pug and St. Bernard plunging into the water and retrieving sticks thrown by their master. The breakers dash over the dogs, completely submerging them at times. It will be noticed that the pug dog conspicuously avoids getting wet. The dogs are well in the foreground and show life size. Sharp and clear.

Mr. White then took a picture of the riders and hounds alone. Then he moved his machine to the ocean beach in front of the hotel, and took the Coronado spaniels—about twenty-five in number—retrieving a ball from the surf. He says it will be a very fine picture, and was lucky enough to catch it just at the time when the big St. Bernard, "Royal,” ran into the water to take the ball away from one of the smaller dogs, not noticing a big breaker, which came along and completely upset him.

James H. White and Fred. W. Blechynden are here today representing the Edison laboratory. They have taken kinetograph pictures of the rabbit chase at Coronado, spaniel in the surf, ostriches and a moving double decker car of Fifth street, passing Marston's store. The views will be developed and exhibited over the world.
