S.S. "Coptic" Lying To

This view was taken aboard the S.S. "Coptic" while making a trip from San Francisco to Japan. The scene was taken from one side of the upper deck, after one of the most severe hurricanes that this vessel had ever passed through, as soon as it was possible to set up the machine. The entire perspective is formed by the angry waters. At one moment it appears as though the vessel were climbing is formed by the angry waters, and again the waves sink so that they are almost out of sight, as the vessel rides the crest of the waves. The effect produced is of a grandeur that must be seen to be appreciated. The picture is photographically perfect and it is certainly one of the finest subjects that we have ever taken.
