English Transport 'Arundel Castle' Leaving for the Transvaal with British Troops

As this substantial steamer passes before the camera, you will observe that her decks are crowded with an enthusiastic assembly of British soldiers. Many wave adieus to friends and dear ones they are leaving behind, but their regrets at leaving are more than overbalanced by their desire to go where they can have an opportunity to show their  courage and skill in the defence of the interests of their Sovereign. As the vessel passes further along, you can see by the numerous lifeboats and other precautions for emergencies, the care and solicitude with which Great Britain surrounds her subjects when in commission in defence of the Crown. The nation's colors at the stern show in whose cause these brave fellows are risking their lives and limbs. This picture never fails to [...]eply impress any observer with any loyalty in his veins.
