TAYLORS' DRUG STORE COMPANY'S TEA AND ENTERTAINMENT.
To commemorate the opening of their Ripon Branch Store, in the Market Place, Taylor's Drug Company Ltd., gave a free tea and entertainment to the old folks of the city and district, and free entertainment to the school children, in the Victoria Hall, on Thursday afternoon and evening. [...] A kinemotograph exhibition followed, including the departure of Sir Redvers Buller, V.C. and our troops for South Africa. The following pictures were also included in the exhibition: Departure of Transport s.s. "Nubia" for South Africa, embarking of Coldstream Gurds on board s.s. "Gascon" for South Africa, Sir R. Buller inspecting and farewell on the "Dunottar Castle," Passengers embarking on "Castle" Liner, S.S. "Hawarden Castle" leaving Southampton, (joined to form one picture). Steamer leaving Port, Launch of "Braemer Castile," Launch of H.M.S. "Albion." Selections were also made from the following list, accompanied by music.Meet of cycle club, Costume parade of cycle club, Boar lane Leeds, Scene on Boulevards, Paris, Scene at fire, Street in Cairo, Egyptian scene with camels, Kirkstall station "train stops," Entrance to Queensbury tunnel, G.N.R. express, Rough sea, Rocks at Flambro' Head, waves and spray, Swans on lake, Henley regatta, High diving, Boys diving from raft, Water jump at steeple chase, Butterfly dance, Magician, "The maid was in the garden," Gardener watering plants, Boys in school, Lodger and landlady, Blind beggar, Pillow fight, Snowballing. The kinemotograph performance was especially appreciated. [...] The kinomatograph exhibition was given by Mr. J. T. Garbutt, manager of the photagraphic [sic] department of the company.
