Les Animated Photographs de David Devant (Athenaeum Hall, mars 1898)
Depuis le mois d'août 1896, David Devant, le célèbre magicien, a organisé une entreprise afin de distribuer et présenter des films en Grande-Bretagne. Il peut compter, à partir du milieu de l'année 1897 sur plusieurs collaborateurs dont son propre frère, Ernest Wighton. À Llanelly, même si le nom de Devant apparaît, c'est plutôt l'une de ses trois équipes qui tournent en Grande-Bretagne, qui est responsable du fonctionnement de la soirée unique donnée à l'Athenaeum Hall et au cours de laquelle on déroule comme d'habitude le programme de vues animées :

ATHENAEUM HALL.-Secretary, Mr Boulton.-The Cinematographe, from Maskelyne and Cooke, of the Egyptian Hall, invented by Mr David Devant, is here this week with a wonderful display of forty animated photos. The entertainment also includes a first-class display of conjuring, ventriloquism, and lightning cartooning by Mr Walter R. Booth, while Miss Mabel Grey appears in the illusion, "The Rainbow Sylph," with pleasing effect.

Si l'on ignore le titre des films présentés - sans doute les mêmes qui ont été offerts dans d'autres villes -, on attribue à David Devant, de façon abusive, l'invention du cinématographe qu'utilise l'équipe... Comme d'habitude, on retrouvre d'autres numéros dont celui du ventriloque Walter R. Booth et de l'artiste Mabel Grey qui tournent depuis déjà quelque temps dans la même équipe.

POOLE'S MYRIORAMA.— The boards of the Royalty Theatre will be occupied next week by H and F. Poole's ever popular myriorama. Llanelly people are well acquainted with the class of entertainment provided by Messrs. Poole, and this year's performance will even surpass all previous efforts. Several attractive features have been introduced into the programme and the more recent events of she Spanish-American war and Lord Kitchener's march to Khartoum will be depicted. The variety entertainment will be of exceptional merit and will include: The Clifton Bros., knockabouts; Little Carlana, quickchange artiste ; the Fairy trio of dancers : Miss Little Poole, vocalist; the Three Bells. Acrobats ; Miss Lizzie Keith, globe performer ; Johnny O'Rourke, negro performer; Atroy, juggler; and Violi in ber musical entertainment. A special attraction will be the Myriograph—an improvement on the cinematograph—giving a series new animated pictures. The above will be excellent fare, and a treat which should not be missed by anyone.

ATHENAEUM HALL.-King pantomime hols away here also this week, Mr. Wm. Haggar's company appearing in Robinson Crusoe, Miss Stella Wart is all that can be desired as the hero. The scenery and dresses are very good, and the entertainment is lengthened by the fine Bioscope pictures shown by Mr. Haggar.

On Friday and Saturday of last week Mr. Henry Studt, the well-known South Wales showman and amusement caterer, gave his annual benefit Fête and Gala in aid of the Llanelly Hospital, on Stradey Park, Llanelly.
