Le Chronophotographe de W. D. Slade (Public Hall, 1er-2 mai 1897)
William David Slade, marchand de chaussures à Cheltenham, qui s'intéresse depuis plusieurs années aux projections lumineuses, fait l'acquisition d'un chronophotographe Demenÿ, à la fin de l'année 1896, avec lequel il va organiser des séances de photographies animées. Lorsqu'il arrive à Ripley, il fait déjà équipe avec Walter Robert Booth, un prestidigitateur magicien et ventriloque. Les deux séances ont lieu dans le Public Hall, les 1er et 2 mai 1897 :

L'Eventographe de Charles W. Poole présente des vues animées en février :
During next week, commencing on Monday evening at 7.45, and continuing until Saturday, the public of Ripley will have an excellent opportunity of obtaining, by the aid of the Edison-Poole eventograph, an idea of the grandeur and oriental magnificence of the recent great Durbar in India. The Chas. W. Poole's Twentieth Century Colossal Combine has engaged the Public Hall for that time, and in addition to the eventograph exhibition will give a variety entertainment each evening. It speaks very highly for the company that recently they spent a very successful month at the Albert Hall, Sheffield, having crowded houses on most nights of their stay. The prices of admission are 6d., 1s., 1s. 6d., and 2s. Matinees on Wednesday and Saturday at 2.30.
